MTI

VGM-50-AM is a programmable and automatic vertical impact grinder and mill for crushing, grinding, and milling sintered ceramic samples up to 0.1 microns. It can adapt various grinding jars from 1.5 ml to 90 ml and provides a high-energy impact force with an amplitude of 16 mm at a frequency of 3000 times/ minute. Milling time, rest cooling time, and speed are programmable via a separate touchscreen box. This device can be used inside an argon gas glovebox and can achieve automatic ball milling via a robotic arm.

Material Feed Size
  • This machine can be used for both crusher, grinding, and fine particle ball mill
    • For crushing, please use 5- 15 mm dia balls, which can crush rough samples about < 12 mm in diameter 
    • For grinding, please use 5- 8 mm diameter balls for < rough sample < 5 mm
    • For the fine particle mill ( < 5 microns), please use 2- 5 mm diameter milling balls

  • May differ depending on the sample material and processing parameters, such as speed, ball size, and quantity

  • One 90 ml air-tight Zuriconia jar is included with several 5 pcs 5 mm balls and 2 pcs of & 10 mm balls

  • For air-sensitive materials, you can load before milling and unload a sample after milling in the glovebox

Jar Holders
  • Two types of Jar holders are included
  1. One is a Manual tighten holder ( Pic. 1 & 2 ) below ) for easy operation
  2. One is a pneumatic holder to tighten the lid of the jar automatically by touching a button or PC operation (Pic. 3)
    • 0.4 Mpa ( 40 bar ) gas pressure is required to drive the pneumatic fixture 
    • If using the outside glovebox, you may order a gas compressor at Pic.4

Control Box
  • The control box with the touch-screen is in a separate unit.
  • You can choose the mode of manual operation or automatic operation
  • In automation mode, you can program running time, speed, and rest time based on your application

  • RS485 PC port and software are available for running multi-device up to 8 units
  • Robotic arm and software are available to load and unload mill jars jar automatically

Application Notes
  • To reduce the milling jar and ball's contamination to sample, please fill at least 30% volume sample before milling, then start milling the powder sample at low speed, and let the sample coat on the surface of the jar and ball, then run at the high speed
